Training & Consulting

The Freedman Center team is comprised of professionals who possess expertise in the areas of clinical practice, LGBT issues, cultural competency and non-profit management.  We offer training and consulting services to agencies, organizations and groups or myriad sizes seeking to promote staff development, enhance program afficacy, increase productivity and improve employee morale.

As consultants we can form relationships with our client organizations to provide on-going guidance and support in various areas of program management.

We also have the capacity to develop curricula and facilitate workshops and seminars on the following topics:

Clinical Practice- we can design and implement workshops and training programs that will enhance your staff's knowledge of clinical social work practice.  Many organizations do not require all staff members to possess a clinical social work license.  However, those professionals who have daily contact with clients, patients and consumers are better equipped to serve the needs of their clients when they understand the dynamics of mental health and psychiatric illness.  For instance, a social worker in a homeless shelter may not provide clinical treatment services on a daily basis, but an understanding of personality disorders may will help her to understand why a partcular client has trouble maintaining housing.  We offer custom designed clinical training services to human service agencies serving various communities and populations.

LGBT Issues- these services are beneficial to all human service providers.  LGBT people access the same services as their heterosexual counterparts.  It is imperative that clinical treatment service agencies (mental health and substance abuse services) are trained to consider the needs of LGBT people and their famililes.  Our clinicians train professionals to provide LGBT competent mental health and substance abuse treatment services.

Non-Profit Program Management-with a combined 40+ years in non-profit programming and management, our professionals train non-profit and community based human service agencies in various areas of management including program design and implementation; staff training, supervision and development; outreach and marketing; and cultural competency.
