Robert S. Cline LMSW received his Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Molloy College then pursued his Master's degree in Social Work from Fordham University. His extensive experience of working with individuals from a strengths perspective continues to instill hope and inspire individuals towards developing and appropriately utilizing self soothing techniques while reducing maladaptive coping mechanisms. Bob's therapeutic modality is eclectic as he believes individuals should be greeted from an individual perspective. He has been trained in and utilizes Ego Psychology and Object Relations Theory with some aspects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.
Prior to joining The Freedman Center, Bob has an extensive history of providing individual and group therapy to individuals suffering from severe depression, bipolar disorder, severe anxiety disorders, and various psychotic disorders. He also specializes in issues affecting the male population. Bob's previous experience incorporated work to decrease the concepts of internal and external homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia, through raising awareness and conducting workshops. He presented workshops in many different high schools throughout Long Island. Bob continues to raise the awareness and educate on the prevention of HIV/AIDS to all members of the LGBTQ community with a large emphasis towards communities of color. Bob developed a passion for working with LGBTQ identified youth (13 to 21 years old) and assists them in identifying and understanding the concepts of gender identity and sexual orientation. His work continues to be geared towards strengthening the individual's self esteem and sense of self worth in order to gain confidence and pride.
Bob desires to continue his work with clients helping them to learn how to overcoming the barriers associated with life’s stressors in order to achieve their goals and aspirations.
